Art Project

Posted in Art by glissona on June 14, 2006

Ideas:

    1) creating a slideshow of my photos

    2) manipulating the colors of my photos using photo shop

    3) creating my own beat!!! :)

Inspiration:

For my art project I have decided that I would like to create my own beat using GarageBand on my Mac computer.  My inspiration is twofold.  1) I really enjoy music and I have a lot of friends that are musicians and I have seen them play with GarageBand so I thought that I would like to be able to create my own song.  2)  I would also like to become more familiar with my computer, and this project provides me with the oppurtunity to try out a new program.

Programs:

In order to complete my project I will be using GarageBand, it is a program that came with my ibook computer.

Difficulties to Research:

I will need to research how to use GarageBand, as well as research how to optimize my project so that I will be able to post it in my blog.

Week #9

The financial analysis went well for me. I did have some troubles finding documentation of Social Studies teachers who have been successful, so I decided to attach links to teachers that I have either had as a student or observed in college that have been successful in my opinion. The process opened my eyes to how lucky I am to have parents who are willing to support me financially in graduate school. It also encouraged me to place myself on a budget so that I can contribute financially to my future.

Description- How to download music from your Apple laptop computer to your ipod.

Annoyed every time you want to take your music on the go with you that you have to lug around an assortment of CD's? Or when jogging you have to hold onto a massive diskman that skips everytime you take a step? Do you have a Macintosh laptop computer and want to download all of those songs you have collected on itunes to your ipod? Well there is an answer to your problem! This lesson will provide you with a step by step process of how to transport your favorite songs from your itunes library to your ipod.

The process will be taught in a step by step format on a blog page:

Ipod Instructions

Students will need a Apple laptop computer which will have itunes (if not you can download it) and an ipod.

Objective: To become with your itunes program and ipod, learning how to integrate the two, by transporting music from itunes to your ipod.

Personal Experience: I am a runner, and it drives me crazy that in the middle of my run my battery will die on my diskman or it begins to skip. I also do not like the fact that my diskman was so large and I was only able to listen to one CD. Thus, when I got my Apple laptop computer and my ipod mini, I was truly happy when I was able to transport the music from my music library on my computer onto my ipod. My ipod is very small and easy to carry and thus it can carry multiple CD's in one handy package that does not skip! I know am able to carry one piece of equipment with me on the airplane, to a coffee shop, in my car, and on a jog, and I can get rid of that annoying CD case!

I added instructions on how to import music onto an ipod. I did this under my teach menu. I recently bought an ipod and am really enjoying it, but the steps to becoming familiar with your ipod can be confusing if you have never used one.

Week #6

I had a lot of trouble this week, and I am still not sure that I did it all right.  I was unable to find a copywrite for my photos and when I tried to go back and title them I had problems.  I am confident about the content of my project, but I am unsure about all of the technical additions I made.

Week #5 Successes and Struggles

Posted in Cultural Site by glissona on May 8, 2006

This week I actually feel as if I did some good work. As far as the overall class, I am feeling very comfortable and the use of technology is becoming routine. My paper has also gone fairly easy. The resources I currently have are very informative and helpful. My biggest complaint is that I have not yet received my two books from Summit and I am actually expecting them today. Therefore the “bulk” of my paper is complete, but I would like to add to it with the resources that will be coming in.

Update on Ada Lovelace

Posted in Cultural Site by glissona on April 30, 2006

This week for my cultural assignment I met with Jane Nichols in the library and she was extremely helpful. I contacted Jane via email and from there we met at the library circulation desk. Being that I am a history major I am really comfortable with the research process, therefore Jane sat with me and she let me start the research process and she would add in helpful hints as we went along. For instance I started with America History and Life, and when nothing came up she suggested that I try Historical Abstracts. She also pointed out how I could expand a titile so see what the contents of the article or book were. Together we were able to come up with two books that I ordered off of Summit and two articles that I was able to have emailed to me on Ada Lovelace. These resources contain background info on Ada, as well as how she came to invent Computer Science. Meeting with Jane was a really good experience, in fact I plan to use her as a resource in another class. Together both Jane and the resources I found have been a great help to my success with my cultural assignment.

Getting Project Started

Posted in Cultural Site by glissona on April 23, 2006

I would like to do my cultural project on Ada Lovelace, she was the founder of scientific computing.  This week was a bit easier for me… I think.  Hopefully I completed the steps that I missed for last week.  I am feeling a bit more comfortable with the website and I am understanding the process a bit more.
